I became friends with Karen when our families got together for cookouts and days at Swan Lake. Karen and I attended Girl Scout Camp Natarswi near Baxter State Park, where we learned to paddle a canoe, build campfires, and improve our swimming skills.
Karen had a wonderful wry sense of humor. She was always ready to laugh and had a great chuckle.
She was also compassionate and cared about folks who were less fortunate in life.
Karen, I'll always remember you with a smile on your face.
