I knew Alva from Fraternity Village Store. It was later in his life, and I was new here to Maine. As I started working at the store, he would always sit in the corner chair and hold court with his buddies. I always enjoyed speaking to Alva, He had a rather rye and dry sense of humor, and I would always joke with him that someone was sitting in his corner chair if he came in and it was occupied. He would kind of give me this look and say, yeah I know as if to say, everyone should know that’s my chair. I didn’t know hiim well he was kind of a quiet sort, but I enjoyed his presence, And somehow, I always knew there was more to him than what met.the eye. I wish I had had the time to get to know him better. I’m sending the family, my condolences, and hope that he will be remembered for many years to come. Thank you.
