Just stunned to hear of Peter's death. We were both in a small group of kayakers that went to Quebec many years to camp and paddle the St Lawrence in an area with many whales. He was always a delight and his "grumpy" persona was a very thin disguise of a enormously warm and giving heart. I always loved his bear hugs and "dahlin'"!! I was so happy to know that he got in a few trips to Scotland and loved hearing his stories. Condolences to his siblings.

I met Peter about 8 years ago, after I had returned to school. I would bring my studies to the Chase's counter in the morning, after getting kids to school, and Peter (and the rest of the counter crew) was often there. What a wonderful man Peter was. Gruff and grumpy in a sort of pretend way that was absolutely endearing. He was real, and could talk intelligently on almost any subject; he had done so many interesting things, that there was never a lack of conversation there at the counter. I miss his laugh, his stories, his joking, and his cozy manner; I miss being able to talk to him and hear his rational, thoughtful responses. I miss seeing him for coffee and breakfast so much. Chase's doesn't feel right without him there, having his yogurt and fruit. Sending condolences to his siblings. Your brother was someone beloved by many and extremely special.

Dear Tom, Laurie, Sara & Ann,
I am deeply saddened to hear of Peter's passing. We were like shipmates at Nasson. We did our share of skiing together along with everything else that goes along with college life. And though the time was just a few short years, it seems like a lifetime of memories.
I've had the opportunity to have met all of you while visiting with your folks at their lovely home. Your parents were very kind to me, given that we were sporting beards that year. They were great. Peter's name and date will go on my shortlist of friends in heaven.
God bless you all,

I did not know Peter, but I know his sister Ann. My sincerest condolences to all of the Stewart Clan.
