Obituary of Robert F. McGreevey

Robert F. McGreevey, 72, formerly of Amityville, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 6, 2020 in Rockport, Maine. Robert was born in Brooklyn, NY on December 3, 1947 to James and Ann (Gillies) McGreevey. Bob enlisted in the Army in 1966 and served two tours of duty in Vietnam with the “Big Red One.” He married his childhood sweetheart, Karen Wanser, in 1986. Robert worked as a carpenter for more than 30 years. He enjoyed reading history and biographies, especially books about the Civil War; he loved music, but most of all he loved the beach and the taste and smell of the salty air. He is predeceased by his sister Gael and his brother John and is survived by his loving wife Karen, formerly of Amityville, NY, children Kerri, Michael, and Allison, and his sister Annie McGreevey. He cherished and adored his six grandchildren, Allison, Carlee, Zoe, Elijah, Joshua, and Ian. Also surviving are a mountain of nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service is planned in the spring in Amityville, NY.
