Jim and Irene Pennell were the first folks we met on Pitcher Pond in 1996. Jim was a striking figure in his bomber jacket, and with statuesque height and broad smile. Even this summer I observed Jim out in the garden, tending his flowers - he was not one to give up easily, despite his fragility. Jim adored his family too, we could see. His grandchildren always held a special place in his heart. It is a passing of the guard that both he and Irene are gone, though they are now together. Rest in Peace, Colonel Jim.

Jim is with Irene, and the Pond will not be the same. 'So many years of memories. We will all miss him. 'Hugs to Sharon, Mark, Kevin, and "the kids".
Love, Jody

Jim welcomed me and my family for many summers as we stayed in the green cottage.. we had several meals together with family..I remember him years ago out in the gardens all day relentless. He pondered, then had a few wise words to say. He was always honest with me. We had some teary moments this past summer.. I cared for him immensely. Beth
