Obituary of John Wilcox Ianelli

John Wilcox Ianelli, 62, of Lincolnville, died peacefully on September 8, 2016, of complications from a stroke with his family and friends by his side at the Portland Medical Center. He was son of John and Helen Ianelli of Plattsburgh, NY. His kindness, laughter, intellect, creativity, generous spirit and smile will be missed deeply by all those who knew him. He loved music and played the dobro and guitar with several bands and friends from Austin Texas to Belfast Maine. He moved to Maine nearly 30 years ago to work at Moss Tents and fell in love with the state which became his home. He served as Chair and faculty for the Digital Graphics, Design and Fine Arts Department at Eastern Maine Community College. He received his MFA from SUNY Albany. He is survived by three children, two daughters Anna-Kate Priputen (Nate) and Ruby Ianelli, and son Ryland Ianelli; two sisters, Cathy Johnston (Wayne), and Joanne Kelly (Lee), and two brothers, Joe Ianelli (Carolyn), Jim Ianelli (Jeanne); two grandchildren, Eleanor and Avery Priputen; a step daughter, Alex Smith; partner, Lisa Tuttle; 3 nieces and 6 nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his parents. Services to celebrate John’s life will be held on Tuesday, September 13th, at the Camden Library Amphitheater beginning at 3:00 p.m. Details and comments will be posted on www.ripostafh.com.
