My loving thoughts go out to the Ianelli family. John's friends here in Plattsburgh feel blest to have seen him so recently. Cathy, I wanted to share a small memory with you. I thought of John just two days ago. I was remembering how, in high school, he asked me to accompany him on a weekend hike in the Adirondacks. I turned him down because I was feeling a cold coming on. He never asked me out again. So two days ago I thought, 'I should let him know that I really did get a cold that weekend and that it wasn't just a rebuff of his offer...' Anyway, now YOU know and I will have to be satisfied with that. The Wilcox/Ianelli clan has been part of the Allens for three generations now and I feel the loss both in family and in our community. So I offer my deepest love and support from the Allen family to yours.

I first met John six years ago through music via Lynne Frey. He and I had much in common beyond a love of acoustic music. We were both teachers, enjoyed working on home imorovement projects and shared the emotional roller coaster of fathers with young children with whom we could not live full-time. Always ready with a quick smile and an inspired Dobro solo, hanging out and playing music with John was a bright spot in my life. It had become reflexive, looking to John immediately after singing a verse for his solo. Losing him will be like having lost a part of me when playing in our 32 North band. I will forever hear those Dobro licks of yours ringing in my head! I love you, John! Gary McCue

Such a sudden and sad loss. John was a kind and gentle man. He went out of his way to stay in touch and develop a friendship with me. I will miss having him stop by on his Ducati for a visit.

John is to be celebrated. I didn't know John at school but in speaking to students he was considered a wonderful educator. The guitar picking was wonderful, what a great memory. My thoughts are with you and your family. Respectfully, Mary Ellen Pedersn

John will forever be in my thoughts when I hear a Dobro. I was blessed to have shared the stage with John only a few days prior to his passing. I will keep that memory of John enjoying friends, music, family and the day as one of the best days ever.

Johnny had causes, so don't send flowers anyone. We will have better options for honoring him. He was a special person, and SO LOVED.

That's my hand on John's shoulder in the promo photo for our band 32 North; it was taken at the very end of May, 2016. I had only met John a few times before, but I really liked him immediately. He was direct but soft-spoken, warm, open to different musical possibilities, and so much fun to play tunes with! All of us were knocked out by his dobro playing, and made sure it was featured at gigs. It was only for a few months, but I am honored to have had John's friendship. I can say with assurance that the last time I saw John (last Sunday), he was enjoying some of the best things in life ---his daughters, his girlfriend, and making fine music on a warm summer day. He was smiling from ear to ear. That's how I'll remember him. My condolences to Lisa, John's siblings and daughters and the many who are sharing this terrible loss. Rest in peace, John. John Monterisi
