Obituary of Eunice Riley Palmer

Eunice Riley Palmer died on October 11, 2019, at home on Congress Street in Belfast, just as she chose. The daughter of Frank and Mildred Riley, she was born on July 7, 1930, the eighth of 11 children. After graduating from Monroe High School in 1948, Eunice moved to Belfast. There she met Dale Palmer at the Belfast City Park, marrying him in 1951. They built a life together... two children, Diane and Eric… two hardware stores, Home Supply and Hampden Hardware… and two grandchildren, Jordan Fearon and Garrett Bergey. According to Eunice, she was predeceased by just about everyone. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Diane and Stephen Bergey, and Eric and Donna Palmer, her grandchildren, Jordan and her husband, Travis Fearon, Garrett Bergey and his partner Erin Affronti, her great grandson, Theodore Fearon, three sisters-in-law, Marguerite Riley, June Riley and Shirley Ripley, and many, many, many nieces and nephews. Eunice felt very lucky, very blessed, to have lived in Belfast these many years and was thankful for the family, friends, customers and ‘summer folk’ who were part of her life. A memorial service will be held at 2pm on October 26, 2019, at the First Church in Belfast with a Celebration of Life immediately following at the Portside Manor Route 1 on the Belfast-Searsport line. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Belfast Lions Club, the Palmer Fund, which provides assistance to visually impaired people in the area. Belfast Lions Club P.O.Box 493, Belfast, ME 04915.
