Obituary of Edith Beach Irish
Edith Beach Irish, 97 of Belfast, Maine, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024.
Edith was born in Dalton, NH on January 2, 2027 to Benjamin and Alberta Beach. She spent her childhood in Canton, Maine. One of nine siblings, she loved to share stories of sledding, ice skating, and family life in rural Maine in the 1930s and 40s. She enjoyed a long career in the printing industry in upstate New York and the Washington DC area. In 1989, Edith returned to Maine, retiring in Belfast, a city she truly loved.
In her free time, Edie loved to sew, knit, paint, and read. She was a talented artist and seamstress, often volunteering her skills to help with costumes for The Belfast Maskers theater company. When she was in good health, Edith was a frequent visitor to the Belfast Free Library where she read through much of their mystery and history collections.
Edie is survived by her son Richard H. Irish of Belmont, Maine; Erica Rubin-Irish of Port Royal South Carolina; and her beloved granddaughter, Jane Rubin Irish. She is also survived by brothers Steve Beach and Sam Beach. She was predeceased by her parents; brothers Charles Beach, Frank Beach, Dick Beach, and Peter Beach; and sisters Glenice Rines and Jackie Sutton.
