Obituary of David Brian Bowen

BELFAST

DAVID BRIAN BOWEN, 72, passed away on October 1, 2024, at home from dementia and Parkinson's Disease.  He was born in Bangor on June 5, 1952, to the late H. Arland Bowen, Jr. and Marjorie Thayer Bowen of Hampden.  

David attended Hampden schools and graduated from Hampden Academy in 1970 and from EMVTI in Bangor in 1972.  He then went to work at Webber Oil Company in Bangor and continued to work there until he started his own businesses in the 1980s - Lakeside Burner and Community Fuels.  

David always enjoyed helping others whenever he could. He joined the Belfast Lions Club and served as Director and President.  He joined the Masons in 1995 and became a 32 Degree Mason in 1996.  David joined Anah Shrine of Bangor in June of 1996 and then joined the Waldo County Shrine Club where he served as President and Treasurer.

David enjoyed the time he spent with his family the most.  One thing he enjoyed doing was hopping on his Harley with Betty with no real destination in mind.  When they got home from the trips, there were always some great stories to be shared.

David is survived by his wife, Betty, of 51 years, and his children - son Allie and daughter Amy, both of Swanville; his brother Bob and partner Anne of Brooksville; mother-in-law Jean Howard of Searsport; his sister-in-law Mary (Raoul) Doyon of Bangor; nephew Adam Merrithew and his sons, Hunter and Chase of Brewer and several cousins.

A memorial gathering will be held from 4 to 6 pm with a Masonic service at 6 pm on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Riposta Funeral Home 182 Waldo Ave. Belfast, Me. 04915
