Obituary of Esther Ruth Hooper
Esther Hooper passed away at home on August 30, 2024, after a long battle with colon and liver cancer. Her daughters were by her side. She was born in Belgrade on May 3, 1942, to William and Shirley George. She married Clifton Hooper Sr. on September 4, 1982, and they were to spend the next almost 42 years together. Esther had several jobs over the years including New Balance, Maple and Lipman poultry, and Humbolt. She retired as a housekeeper from Waldo County General Hospital. Esther enjoyed coloring and putting together puzzles and anything that involved her family.
She leaves behind a brother, Eugene, of Skowhegan, Children Raymond Rines (Sue Galang) of Arlington VA, Vicki Ryder (John) of Stockton Springs, and Carrie Thomas (Breyton) of Morrill. The light of her life she always said was her two grandsons, Draven and Joseph Thomas of Morrill. Stepchildren include Carol Hann (Darla) of Searsport, Terry McNeal of Searsport, David (Michelle) Hooper of Searsmont, Thomas Hooper of Colorado, and Clifton Hooper Jr (Roberta) of Belfast. There are also several step-grandchildren that she loved as her own and many nieces and nephews. Esther also leaves behind a very special friend Sylvia Brassbridge.
Preceding her in death is her husband Clifton Hooper Sr who passed away July 18, 2024, father William George, mother Shirley George, and stepdaughter Sharon Gallant.
A graveside service was held at Grove Cemetery on September 4, 2024. This would have been her and Clifton’s 42nd wedding anniversary.
