Obituary of Barry C. Hopkins

Barry C, Hopkins was born on November 18th 1942 and died at home on Saturday August 24th, 2024. He was born in Belfast to Alfred and Dorothy (Melvin) Hopkins.  Barry graduated from Crosby High School in 1960 and went on to join the Army where he took great pride working as a MP in Stuttgart, Germany. After the Army he went on to work at St. Regis in Bucksport for 35 years up until his retirement and later on took on a part-time role at Carquest, delivering automotive parts to local businesses.

 

Barry met his soulmate and life partner, Beth Dodge and married her on May 11th, 1969, Together, they raised three beautiful children, Missy, Rick and Mike and never missed a single activity they participated in. Big family get togethers at Pitcher Pond in the summer and dinners on Christmas and Thanksgiving with the entire family were a standard tradition. Barry was also a man of integrity who taught his children by example, such as the time he came home from Jack's with too much change and promptly went back to Jack's to return the extra money.

 

Barry possessed a comprehensive passion for anything sports. He was a loyal fan of the Belfast Lions and a long-time member of Northport Golf Club and also enjoyed golfcentered vacations on many occasions. Barry touched the lives of many children in the community as a dedicated little league coach. Anyone who knew Barry, knew he was an avid and dedicated Washington Redskins fan.

 

Barry was predeceased by his parents, his wife Beth, and his son Rick. He is survived by his daughter Missy Hopkins of Belfast, his son Mike Hopkins of Southwest Harbor, his sister Ellen Cummings of Massachusetts, his brother Steve [Donna] Hopkins of Belmont, and Scott [Sarah] Hopkins of Searsport, his grandchildren Kassidy Turner of Maryland, Reagan and Kolby Turner of Virginia, Aaliyah Hopkins of Windsor, Kassandra Hopkins of Augusta and his great-grandchildren Aubree and Seneca Van Tassel of Maryland, as well as his "adopted" children Jake Boyle, David Watt, Rick Pomeroy, Andrea Hopkins and many others,

 

Graveside services will be held at Grove Cemetery on Sunday, September 1st at 11 am.  Memories and condolences may be shared on his tribute wall.
