Vickie Youngblood posted a condolence

My husband Tom met Richard at Signal School Ft. Gordon, Georgia in 1976, they became fast friends and Richard brought Vickie over to meet me. We immediately liked each other and became friends, who became like family. Over the next neat50 years, we had stayed in touch, after the Army sent us in different directions, we visited each other and traveled together when we could. I have so many memories of the great times we had together, and a few sad times as well. Vickie Weaver Otis never met a stranger and made a lasting impression on the people that she met. Everyone who knew her loved her, I know Tom and I certainly loved her like family. There is now an empty spot in our little group of lifetime friends, and no one can fill it.

I was truly sadden to hear of the passing of Vickie. We grew up together living two houses apart. She was my childhood friend from age 6 through high school. As kids we spent almost every day together. Swimming at Sunset Cove, delivering newspapers, cooking, going to the Union Fair and just having fun like kids do. She was a great friend and a wonderful person.
She will be missed by many.
Love you, Vickie. RIP
This picture is of Vickie, her sister Mary and I all together as kids. Such great memories!

I will miss Vickie beyond words. We met about eight years ago in Myrtle Beach and she and I connected and became incredible friends. There are friends and there is family but Vickie was my friend that became my family. Her positive, caring, optimism and genuine friendship meant more to me than I could ever hope to express. No matter what Vickie was dealing with, she always reached out to check on her friends and was always there to help us find the light. An amazing person. She lit up when she talked about her kids and grandchildren. She had a phenomenal appreciation of life and passed it on to all of us. I looked forward to her positive messages everyday. She was my strength and shoulder to cry on through many tough times. She was someone I could always count on and talk to and share and know that it would be kept between us. Vickie was and always will be my cherished friend. John and I send heartfelt condolences to Richard and the family. Love and hugs to all of you.

The Otis’s, Youngbloods, and my husband Rick Coleman have been friends for 49 years, going back to their Army days. Vickie welcomed me into the “family” in 1993 and it was like we’ve known each other for years. We are so fortunate, blessed, and thankful to have all come together earlier this year in Myrtle Beach, always sharing the love, laughter, and good times. Vickie is a bright light that will forever live on in our hearts and we will miss her and her daily Facebook posts sharing such positivity and encouraging words to all, so sincerely and selflessly! Fly high dear friend, pain free, we love and miss you dearly!

Vickie and Mary and I grew up together on the same street. We played together as children....I remember playing hopscotch in the Weaver’s driveway. One of my fondest memories is helping Vickie deliver newspapers and then going to the bakery for a donut after we finished. I am so very sorry that she has passed and my deepest condolences to her family! She was very special! I will miss you Vickie! Rest In Peace!

My husband and I met Vickie (and Richard) about 5 or 6 years ago when we were at Compass Cove (in Myrtle Beach) where we spend the winter months. The camaraderie between us was instantaneous since then. We had dinners together (either at our place or theirs) or we would go out to eat and playing games too!! No one can replace the void we have in our hearts. We wish you could have fought through this last health issue but it was not to be. Our winters will not be the same without you being there, dear Vickie!!
