Obituary of Janet A. Kimball

Please share a memory of Janet to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Janet Amelia Kimball, a beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on May 9, 2024, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family in the comfort of her home. She was born on June 5, 1945, in the vibrant borough of Brooklyn, New York, to Frances and Robert Bartoletti. Janet's early years unfolded in the flourishing streets of Brooklyn, where she attended Parochial School until her family later relocated to Long Island. She graduated from Sewanhaka High School in Floral Park, marking the first milestone in her educational journey.

As fate would have it, Janet's path led her to Maine in 1962, where she met John Greer, the man with whom she would share an important chapter of her life. Their union was blessed with the arrival of two beautiful daughters, Kellie and Kara. However, destiny had another path in store for Janet, and in 1978, she found the love of her life in Philip Kimball, MD. Together, they embarked on a remarkable journey that spanned four and a half decades, creating cherished memories and demonstrating unwavering support for each other.

Driven by her passion for helping others, Janet pursued a career in nursing, graduating from St. Joseph's School of Nursing. Her dedication and academic excellence shone through as she achieved Summa Cum Laude honors in Sociology from the University of Maine Orono. Janet's professional life extended beyond her nursing career, as she worked alongside Philip in his clinical practice for 15 years. In addition, she actively participated in the Eastern Maine Medical Center’s Medical Wives Auxiliary and lent her support to various nonprofit organizations.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Janet possessed a vibrant zest for life. She enjoyed sailing on Penobscot Bay, skiing in Europe and New England, and vacationing in the Caribbean with Philip. She also cherished her church community at St. Francis of Assisi in Belfast, Maine. Her heart, however, found its greatest joy in spending time with her beloved daughters, Kellie and Kara, as well as her grandchildren, Christian and Eliza. Janet enjoyed countless trips to school events, visits to college campuses, and seeing her children thrive in their professional careers while creating families of their own.

Janet was a talented cook and enjoyed hosting holidays and special occasions with family and friends. Her innate ability to find the perfect gift or thoughtful card for any occasion was a testament to her empathy and attentiveness.

She is survived by her daughters Kellie Greer her spouse Gabriel Muro and their children Christian & Eliza Quinones; Kara Greer and her spouse Ava Collins; her sister Denise Healy and brother-in-law, Peter Healy; niece and nephew Morgan and Griffin Healy; stepchildren Philip Kimball, Jr., Debbie Kimball, Jen Kimball, Chris Kimball and their families; and countless friends. Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Kimball, MD.

Janet leaves behind an enduring legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering love.

The family extends a special thank you to her close friends, church family, and care team who shared their love, expertise, and support.

Services will be held at St. Francis of Assisi 81 Court St, Belfast, Maine on June 14, 2024, at 11 am. A gathering will follow to celebrate her life. Flowers can be sent to the funeral home. Donations can be made in her memory to St. Francis of Assisi Church.
