Obituary of Maurice D. Eastman
Maurice “Moe” Dana Eastman, 64, of Belfast, Maine, passed away peacefully on March 27th, 2024, surrounded by his daughters.
He is survived by his mother, Loretta Eastman of Belfast; 2 daughters, Jennifer Bubert of Derry, NH and husband Paul, Kimberly Lackovic of Exeter, NH, and 3 grandchildren, Sofia, Oliver and Madeleine. He is also survived by his sister, Maureen LeGage of Lincolnville and brother in law Jim, his nieces Kara LeGage and great-niece Hayden, of Camden, and Megan LeGage, currently of Montana.
Maurice was predeceased by his father, Cecil Eastman of Belfast.
Moe was born March 23, 1960 and raised in Belfast. After graduating from Belfast Area High School in 1978, he enlisted to serve with the U.S. Air Force where he had a successful military career, eventually retiring after over 25 years of service. He was recognized for many achievements throughout his service, most notably, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award, Air Force Overseas Short Tour Ribbon and NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon.
He wasn’t about to sit still in retirement so he wasted no time finding his next purpose. No matter where he worked, he always took great pride in his work and made a positive impact on those around him.
In his younger years, he was a talented athlete who loved playing all sports and continued to play golf throughout his life spending time with his Dad, Cecil on the Northport Golf Course. He was a lifelong New England sports fan, no matter how they fared, he never missed a game. He also spent most of his life achieving top awards in fantasy sports leagues, something he enjoyed so much.
It wouldn’t be right without a mention for his undeniable love of pizza. His favorite spot was any of the Pat’s Pizza locations but when at home, you would often see him making a box of Chef Boyardee pizza from scratch!
He will be fondly remembered for his devilish sense of humor and incessant need to play practical jokes, never missing an opportunity to make someone laugh.
A graveside service is scheduled for May 18, 2024 at 10:00am, at Grove Cemetery in Belfast.
Contributions in memory of Moe can be made to Maine Veterans’ Home, at https://mainevets.org/make-a-gift/, directed to MVH Scarborough to support their “Resident Activities Program.”
