Obituary of Harald Joseph Christiansen
The world became a little darker on Saturday March 2 nd when Harald Joseph Christiansen (Howdy, Pa) of Searsmont passed away quietly while surrounded by his loving wife of fifty-two years, Pam, and his three children, Angel, Heidi, Scott, and daughter-in-law Emily. Howdy’s two sons-in-law, Keryn and Brian, also shared their love with this constant presence in the Christiansen family throughout the day.
Howdy is survived by nine grandchildren (Tori and her husband Zach, Jacob and his fiancé Jenn, Michael and his wife Mahala, Avery, Sierra and her husband Matt, Scott Jr. and his wife Rose, Nick, Tim, and Hunter), eight Great-grandchildren (Mackenzie, Mason, Franklin, Wesley, Paisley, Kalvin, Ben, and Alice), his mother in law Avis Beach, many brothers and sisters, many extended grandchildren and great grandchildren, and many dear friends.
Howdy was born in New Jersey on July 12, 1951, but lived most of his life in Freedom, Maine for thirty-one years before settling in Searsmont in 2021. He supported his family in the construction trades focusing on masonry and cement work for most of his life. Howdy retired in 2014 to devote his life to enjoying time with Pam and his family.
He was a devoted “Pa” who never missed a football game or special event. Howdy also enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren about hunting, fishing, gardening and all the passions he
loved. He also enjoyed many adventures and hunting trips with friends creating great memories. Howdy’s best adventures though were with the love of his life, Pam, as they traveled all over the
country on grand adventures together.
Howdy was a member of the Masons for over 30 years, passing that pride onto his son Scott, and grandson Scott Jr.
There will be no funeral services; however, we will celebrate Howdy’s beautiful life at a later date.
Yes, the world became a little darker on Saturday, March 2 nd because he touched so many of our
lives in ways that brought just the beautiful simple light of a life well lived and shared. Pa, you
will be missed but never forgotten.
