Obituary of Lucille F. Bartlett
On December 30, 2023, Mrs. Lucille Bartlett of West Appleton, Maine passed away peacefully at her home in the company of her family. Mrs. Bartlett, or Lucy, as she was called by many, was a resident of Appleton for most of her life. She was born in Rockland, Maine on June 20, 1936, to Samuel T. Jackson and Bessie McKinney Jackson. Growing up she was a 4-H member and loved to play basketball. After the New Brunswick Bible Institute, Lucy spent time in Saskatchewan, Canada as a missionary. In later years she was an avid gardener and golfer. She was a long-time member of the Appleton Baptist Church and a witness to everyone she met. Lucy was an amazing advocate for Christ and touched so many people in ways we will never know. She sat with people on their deathbeds and brought them the comfort of knowing they were going home to be with Him. She knew this and spent her last days knowing that she had done her best for her family and friends to bring the Lord into their lives. She was and continues to be an amazing person to so many people. We love you.
Lucy is survived by her spouse of 61 years, Donald I. Bartlett, and her seven children: Cynthia A. Gonzalez of Geyserville, CA; Donald Ray, Roscoe I., Samuel J. and Franklin E. Bartlett of West Appleton; Edward J. Bartlett of Fulton, MO and Ginnine L. Bartlett of Loxahatchee, FL, as well as 25 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, and four of her fifteen siblings.
Lucy will be buried at the Monarch Butterfly Cocoon Family Cemetery in West Appleton. The family will hold a Celebration of Life memorial in late summer at the West Appleton Country Club; an announcement will be posted on the WACC Facebook page in August.
