Obituary of Katherine Marie Micolichek
On November 7, 2023, Katherine (Kathy) Marie (Williams) Micolichek got her wings and went to walk, dance, and sing with the angels, following a brief illness.
Born in Helena, Montana in 1937 to Terrence and Blanche (Wigger) Williams, Kathy grew up in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where she married Jerome Micolichek soon after graduating from high school. As newlyweds Kathy and Jerome lived on military bases in Texas and California, returning to Wisconsin to raise their seven children when Jerome’s tour of duty ended. She earned an LPN Degree from Northeastern Wisconsin Technical College in 1975, followed by a richly fulfilling 25-year career in nursing and recovery care.
Kathy was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved children, animals of all kinds, everything related to the Green Bay Packers, camping, reading, making crafts, road trips, and all genres of music. Kathy loved a good adventure. On their first camping trip, the whole family raced to pack up their rented camper in a downpour to outwit the rising Mississippi River! Her curiosity and interest in world and local news and culture lasted a lifetime, and she enjoyed spirited conversations about politics and events.
Kathy never missed an opportunity to bring her family and friends together for holidays and other celebrations. She loved Christmas most of all, and delighted in making beautiful handmade gifts, decorating the house and making sure everyone took home some Packer swag.
In 2022, Kathy moved to Belfast, ME to be near her daughter, Margaret, and Margaret’s partner, Barbara. She quickly adapted to life in Maine, making many new friends and enjoying Maine lobster whenever she could.
Katherine was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Jerome A. Micolichek, beloved children Michael and Jeanne, and niece Debbie Hauser. She is survived by her children Margaret Micolichek (Barbara Egan), Cynthia Micolichek (Tony Blakey), Patrick Micolichek (Connie), Michelle Gibson (Robert Earl), Jennifer Micolichek (Samuel Pelant), and grandchildren McKenna and Jared Gibson.
We will honor Kathy’s generous and loving spirit in a Celebration of Life at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church Community Room, 95 Court St., Belfast, Maine, on Sunday, January 28, 2024, from 2:00-4:00 PM. A Wisconsin celebration will happen next summer for family and Midwest friends.
