It seems like Baird was always in our lives from our first memory of Belfast. We went to his film talks at the Library, and later did our own film series in the same venue, though different films. And he was always around when film and interesting activities were in order. His wife, Joan, was part of the Hospice Volunteers and was a bright spot in my day when I saw her. Baird's enthusiasm for life never flagged, even while his energy did. He was a bright spark in the life of Belfast, and he will be missed.
