Obituary of Sharon A. Werner

Sharon A. Werner, 74, of Belfast, ME sadly passed away on October 28, 2023. Sharon was born to Charles R. Werner and Fern E. Troyer in Columbus, OH. After attending high school, Sharon went to Aultman Hospital School of Nursing in Canton, OH and Ohio University in Athens, OH. She was a registered nurse for forty years in many fields and taught paramedics. Sharon retired from Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster, OH and was employed by the Waldo County General Hospital after moving to Maine.

As a nurse Sharon was the recipient of numerous awards including the Nurse of Hope and the Lane W. Adams Quality of Life Award. She was active with numerous groups including the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life, and the Circle of Hope. Sharon enjoyed history and could be found participating in Civil War reenactments, rubbing headstones as a genealogist, outside in the garden planting or knitting scarves for loved ones for Christmas gifts while listening to her favorite music. 

Sharon is survived by her daughters Tonya (Kevin) Kemp and Emily (Malcolm) Lanham, grandchildren Kelsey Kinser, Zachary Lanham, Jaycie (Rodney) Bias and Aiden Kemp and great-grandchildren Madelyne Kinser, Adler Kinser, Brogan Lanham, and Rowann Bias. She is preceded in death by both parents, loving grandparents, and longtime companion Raymond Gallagher. Special friends of Sharon’s include longtime family friends Lois and Jack Walker and friend and caregiver Sonja Beal.
