Obituary of William T. Flanders
William Thomas Flanders, 64, of Northport passed away on July 27, 2023 at the Sussman House, while surrounded by loving family.
Bill, or as many people called him, Uncle Bill, was born in Belfast, Maine on December 10, 1958 to Arthur and Glenice Flanders. Once out of school, Bill worked in the woods most of his younger years and later moved on to the auto mechanic field, in which he recently retired. One of his favorite things to do was spending time and going fishing with "The Boys", his three sons, Jim, Cameron and Trevor. He also enjoyed spending time at the VFW in Belfast and often talked about participating in raffles and activities that benefited those in need. He was very proud to be a lifetime participating auxilary member and quickly became part of their family.
Known as Poppy by his grandchildren, Bill loved each of them very much and was so proud of them. He always had a very special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews, Norma and husband Walter Ash of Belfast, Jennifer and husband Chris Lindsey of Littleton, Eben Flanders and wife Pam of Northport, Leonard Harvey of Brooks, Katherine Smith of Morill, and many more who were dear to him. He was also very close to his long-time friends and neighbor Brenda and Steve Williams and Sherrie Pierce.
Bill was predeceased by his loving wife of many years, Pamela Flanders; father, Arthur Flanders, Sr.; mother and step-father, Glenice and Elden Lenfest; brothers, Gordon Flanders and Arthur Flanders, Jr.; sister-in-laws, Kathleen Flanders and Lynn Jasienowski and nephew Scott Littlefield.
Bill is survived by his sons, Jim Philbrook and wife Tracie of Northport, Cameron Philbrook and Trevor Philbrook and wife Mary of Gardiner. His brother Ralph Flanders and partner Fayleen of Northport; sister Caro and husband Ed Furbush of Northport; in-laws, Barbara and Alan Kenney, Tim and Paula Riley and Paul Jasienowski.
There will be a celebration of life held on Saturday, August 5, 2023, from 11 am - 2 pm, at the home of Norma and Walter Ash at 34 Searsport Avenue in Belfast. All are welcome to join us in honoring the life of Bill Flanders and all the memories made.
