I am one of the "girls" who ran local races with Ralph, Harold Jones and Darrell O'Leary. We'll never forget the Bar Harbor race in the rain, with garbage bags over our bodies. Or the Broiler Day race with the killer hills, and Brooks on July 4th when the temperatures were in the 80's and we ran through the spray of the fire engine. I still have the straw Ralph made for me, of dental tubing with a floss neck strap, so I could drink Gatorade without stopping on the course. Fun times!
