Obituary of Inez Louise Williams

Please share a memory of Inez to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Inez Louise (Hustus) Williams, 87, of East Thorndike, passed away peacefully with family members by her side on April 14, 2023.  She was born October 8, 1935, in Brooks, Maine, the daughter of Lauriston and Harriet (Holmes) Hustus.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother to her family and friends.  She was known for her baked beans and donuts that she made every Saturday during hunting season for anyone who stopped in, her Memorial Day BBQ, which sometimes included more than 100 people, and being the “Mom” of East Thorndike to many.

She worked for many years on the potato harvester for Edgerly Farms and retired from Thorndike Press where she started by stuffing and addressing envelopes because she had such nice handwriting and worked up to being an In-house Sales Rep for libraries.  Her hobbies included reading, crocheting, sewing and puzzles books.

She was an active member of the Thorndike Congregational Church where she served as deaconess for many years, president and vice president of the Thorndike Historical Society and a member of the cemetery committee.

Inez’s love for her family was evident in everything that she did.  She was an enthusiastic supporter of her family’s activities, from choral/band, sports, horse shows and horseshoe tournaments to anything else that the family was involved in.  She and her husband, Everett Sr. made many trips cross-country, from Texas to California, and they always stopped at anything to do with the Civil War.

She is survived by her seven children, Terry and his soul mate, Cathy, Gayle and husband, David Penney, Jill and husband, Timothy Bailey, Julie and husband, Carmen Coloutti, Mike, Danny and wife, Roxanne, and Everett Jr. and a former daughter-in-law, Wendy Williams; 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 14 great-great grandchildren; one special sister, Jacquie Ludden, a sister-in-law, Gert Williams, and a special niece, Marge Cole; plus many nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts and uncles.

She was pre-deceased by her loving husband of 50 years, Everett Williams Sr., her parents, 2 brothers, Lauriston, Jr. and Harry, and 2 sisters, Lois Austin and Patty Banker; brothers-in-law, Ernest Austin, Richard Banker, Darwin Ludden Sr., Charles, Ralph and Edwin Williams, and 2 sisters-in-law, Grace Cookson and Sally Collins.

Visiting hours will be Friday, April 21 from 4:00-6:00 at the Riposta Funeral Home in Belfast.  Funeral services will be held at the Thorndike Congregational Church at 12:00 PM on April 24, with Rev. Dr. Levi Soucy and Pastor Paul Press officiating.  Burial will follow at the Thorndike Center Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to her church:  Thorndike Congregational Church, P.O. Box 51, Thorndike ME  04986.  Memories and condolenes may be shared on her tribute wall.
