Obituary of Robert T. Fish

Robert (Bob) Fish, 82, career teacher at Westbrook High School, noted for unsurpassed kindness, gentleness, and industriousness, departed this life at Gosnell Memorial in Scarborough on October 21, 2022. The only child of Bernice and Andrew Fish of Belfast, Bob was cherished by family, friends, colleagues, and students throughout his life.

In 1970 in Memphis during Bob’s first of two sabbatical leaves (a rare honor for any secondary school teacher), he met John Stuart, and the two began a deeply affectionate partnership (marriage as of 2013) that endured more than 52 years.

Westbrook High continues to offer the Robert T. Fish Theatre Scholarship, and details on additional memorials for Bob will appear on the website for Riposta Funeral Home in Belfast.

In addition to Bob’s husband John, he is survived by his aunt, Maureen Y. Fish, and numerous cousins and in-laws. Family members appreciate the professional care Bob received from Intermed, Maine Medical Center, and Gosnell Memorial.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 28, 2022, at 1 pm at Riposta Funeral Home 182 Waldo Ave. Belfast, Me.  immediately followed by interment at Grove Cemetery in Belfast, Me.
