Obituary of Peter John Velanzon

PETER J. VELANZON SR, 76, passed away unexpectedly on September 8, 2022, at his home in Belfast.  He was born in Stamford, Connecticut on July 20, 1945, to Patsy and Evelyn Elizabeth (Harold) Velanzon.  Peter moved to Belfast, Maine in 1968.  Peter served our Country in the U.S. Army from 1968-1973, then stayed in the Army Reserves for many, many years.  Peter became a beloved member and citizen of Belfast, working at the shoe factory, then worked for Penobscot Frozen foods (McCrum Potato Co.) for over 30+ years.  Peter was an avid hunter and was a State of Maine Hunting Safety class instructor.  He loved his family, friends and his home in Belfast.  

He was predeceased by both parents.  Survivors include his children, Peter Velanzon Jr. of Waldo and Leighann Kalivas of New Milford, Connecticut; his brothers and sisters, Kim Woods of Belfast, Brenda Provencher of Limerick, Candy Jean Vaccaro of Stamford, CT, Candi Cook of South Carolina, Patrick Velanzon of Port Republic, VA, Michael Jones of Florida, David Jones of Florida; grandchildren Anthony Reilly, Brianna Reilly Chealsee Kalivas, Peter Velanzon III; great-grandchild Weston Hallahan as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  

Visiting hours will be held from 11-1 on September 14, 2022, at Riposta Funeral Home followed by burial at Grove Cemetery, Belfast.
