Obituary of Nancy E. Black
Nancy E. Black, 84 of Waldo, died on August 24, 2022, peacefully in her home surrounded by her children.
Born and lived in Morrill, Nancy graduated from Crosby High School, all the while working the family business at Cross Patch Farms in Morrill. A pioneer entrepreneur of her time, after working some textile jobs around the midcoast, she opened Nancy’s Sewing Center in Belfast. She owned and operated the quilting shop for 31 years before retiring to her Waldo home.
Nancy was a member of the local Quilting Club and used her Sewing Center to host many gatherings. She also participated in bowling tournaments with her family. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with family.
Nancy was predeceased by her son Timothy Black, brothers Harrison and Gerald Cross, parents Keith and Evelyn Cross, sister Marie Blaisdell, and son-in-law Ralph Rolfe Sr.
She is survived by sisters Connie Butler, Winnie Mucklow and Joan Bowen, children Cynthia Grondin, Daniel Black, Keith Black and Lottie Rolfe, grandchildren Robin Ames, Mari Grondin, Danielle Black and Ralph Rolfe Jr., great-grandchildren Hailey & Austin Ames, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held September 17, 2022 11:00am at the Veracity Chapel in Morrill.
