Obituary of Lucille Marcia Gorham
Appleton - Lucille Marcia Gorham passed away peacefully at the Sussman House in Rockport after a brief illness unrelated to covid. She was born June 13th, 1931, to Josiah "Sim" Bryant and Carrie Jackson Bryant.
Lucille married William "Bill" Gorham in June of 1950. They spent many years in Moscow where Bill worked for the Maine Forestry Department. You would often find Lucille riding right along with him while on patrol when she wasn't running the office. Later they moved to Union, and then just down the road to Appleton until Bill passed away in 2008. Her sister, Beverly, moved into the Appleton home as Lucille’s caregiver so she could remain home as long as possible.
Lucille was known to many in the area as ‘Wigs’, ‘Wiggy’, or Mrs. Gorham, and Aunt Wig to her many nieces and nephews. She loved gardening and she most definitely had a green thumb; beautiful flowers line her yard and the vegetables she grew she would share with family and friends. Wig enjoyed playing cards and in later years did so regularly with her brother.
In addition to her parents, Wig was predeceased by her sisters, Delora "Doe" Peaslee, Goldie Peaslee, Agnes "Aggie" Fuller, and her only brother Oscar Bryant. She leaves behind her sister, Beverly Olson, several nieces, nephews, and so many friends. Some special friends with whom she made so many fond memories, Ed Perry, Barbara Brown, Linda Metcalf, Sylvia Morrill, and Teresa Crosby to name a few.
A thank you to all the people involved in her care, hospice in-home care and at the Sussman House, they were so kind and caring, and we so appreciate them.
At Wigs request there will no services. Plant a tree, some flowers, or some vegetables in her honor, that will make her smile down.
