It is with broken hearts that we announce that on May 7th, 2022, Sonja (Merry) Ward went home to be with her savior Jesus Christ surrounded by her loving family.

Sonja was born on October 31, 1961 in Belfast, Maine, to Elwood and Delores (Surek) Merry.

On August 30, 1993 Sonja married Preston Ward and together they had 3 children: Joshua, Joseph and Julia. Sonja was a very dedicated mother who was very involved in all her kids' activities.

As her Children grew up and went out on their own, she and Preston loved to spend their winters in Florida and their summers in Maine. She enjoyed time with her family and especially her little granddaughter Harper.

Sonja will be sadly missed by her mother, Delores Merry along with her husband Preston who took excellent care of her through this whole journey. She will also be missed by her three children and their spouses: Joshua Merry and his wife Kasie along with their daughter Harper, Julia (Ward) Garcia and her husband Basilio and Joseph Ward and his companion Monica.

She also leaves behind two brothers Dennis Merry and his wife Tina along with Timothy Merry and his wife Pamela. She is also survived by two sisters Melody (Merry) Holmes and Kristi (Merry) Philbrook and her husband Alva, along with many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She also leaves behind Bill Martin who she considered to be another son.

Sonja was preceded in death by her father Elwood Merry Sr along with a sister Becky (Merry) Merrithew and her brother E Leslie Merry Jr..

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

We will miss you but Heaven is sweeter with you there.
