Obituary of Tammy L. Merrithew

BURNHAM - Tammy Lee Merrithew, 63, lost her battle with cancer on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at her home with her loving husband by her side. Tammy was born on February 14, 1959, in Waterville and was the daughter of Paul Lessard of Winslow and Patricia Thompson Leiby of Clinton. Tammy grew up in Farmington Falls and Hartland and graduated from Nokomis High School in Newport in 1977. Tammy held many different jobs throughout her years, the most recent being at Mount Saint Joseph in Waterville as the Activities Director, a job she truly loved. Tammy met her husband, Scott, in 1980 through mutual friends and the two were married on October 20, 1984. They spent many wonderful years together doing all the things they loved and enjoyed like snowmobiling, spending time on the coast in Boothbay Harbor, watching the Nascar races, visiting Florida, taking rides in the north Maine woods and spending time with their friends and family. Tammy was predeceased by her father, Paul Lessard and her step-father, Harry Leiby. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Scott Merrithew of Burnham, her daughter Holly Irish and her husband Ben of Clinton, her son Dustin Merrithew and his wife Rachael of Burnham, and by her six beloved grandchildren; Natalie, Jaelin, Tallin, Marlaina, Remi and Rose. She loved her grandkids more than anything and enjoyed all the laughs and fun times spent in their company over the years. Tammy is survived by her best friend and black lab, Maggie Mae. She is also survived by her sister Nancy Truman of Ashland, her mother Patricia Leiby also of Ashland and her step-brother Levi Leiby of Clinton. Tammy shared a special relationship with her mother-in-law Marie Merrithew, both being born on Valentine’s Day. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Tammy’s memory to the Good Shepherd Food Bank, PO Box 1807, Auburn, ME 04211. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 11th at 1:00pm at Scott and Tammy’s home in Burnham. Anyone who knew and loved Tammy is welcome to attend.
