Obituary of Jessica S. T. Gower

Jessica Sherman (Tomaso) Gower, 68, passed away November 12, 2021, in Belfast, surrounded by family, following complications from cancer. She was born December 6, 1952, daughter of Angelo L. Tomaso and Patricia (Sherman) Tomaso in Piscataway, NJ. She worked as a bookstore manager at the Harvard Bookstore and Colby College Bookstore, and was the owner of the Fertile Mind Bookstore in Belfast. In 1997, she returned to college to become a teacher, working in the SAD 22 School District until her retirement. She is survived by her husband, William B. Gower of Winterport, daughters, Emily S. Gower of Augusta, Katherine F. “Katie” Gower of Atlanta, GA, stepson Thor M. Gower of Frankfort, brother Matthew Tomaso of Cedar Grove, NJ, and grandchildren Olivia Corey, Daniel Corey, Julia Corey, Eric Gower, and Rachel Gower. She was predeceased by her sister, Jennifer Tomaso. A time to share memories will be held on Tuesday, November 23rd from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast. At her request a celebration of her life will be held at a later date - “a big party”.
