Obituary of Shannon J. Ahearn

The man, the myth, the legend, Shannon Ahearn, 51, of Montville left this realm on October 4th, 2021, after a long illness. His family and child/dog Archie were by his side to see him on to the next chapter where Shannon will be raising hell with his brothers and torturing their parents in the beyond. Shannon was born March 30th, 1970, to Dorothy (Neptune) and William “Pete” Ahearn. He was raised in Richmond, Maine and graduated from Gardiner Area High School, or as he claimed, passed with honors by mowing the teachers' lawns. In addition to his parents, Shannon was predeceased by two brothers, Daniel and Michael. Shannon loved all types of music and singing out of tune. He liked to impress the ladies with his dancing and by outdrinking his friends. Shannon never met a stranger. He had friends and acquaintances of all walks of life. He worked as a lumper with AG for many years, and he also worked as a roofer, painter, and did a lot of construction and carpentry. He worked hard and he played even harder. He loved anything to do with water. He loved jumping and doing backflips off of bridges, barbeques and partying with his buddies, horror movies and ghost hunting, telling jokes and playing pranks on his friends and family. He thought he was a comedian and strived to make everyone laugh. He loved the coast and exploring all the secret nooks and crannies. He was all about pushing boundaries and Kennebec County jail kept the light on for him. He is survived by his soulmate and life partner Barbie Mattingly of Montville, his stepdaughters, Rhiannon and Lindsay Mattingly of Pittsfield, his family, Doreen Campbell and husband Richard of West Gardiner, William "Pete" Ahearn II and wife Roseanne of Gardiner, Timothy Ahearn and wife Linda of Litchfield, Steve Ahearn of Litchfield, Deidra Fairley of Randolph, Sheila Andrei and husband Michael of Auburn, Joyce Sawyer and husband James of Gardiner, Kathleen Campbell and husband Jeffrey of Pittston, and Carol Ahearn and husband Shad Lewis of Bridgton, as well as an abundance of nieces and nephews. He also had many friends whom he referred to as “sister” and “brother”. There will be no services at this time. If you'd like to honor his memory, go to the shores of Pleasant Pond and give a loud "HELL YEAH BABY!".
