My tribute to Faye:
Faye Harvey was one of my favorite people on earth. Her easy and gentle way of helping others was seamless. When I told her the women in Venezuela had no clothes for their newborn babies she organized a way to collect, purchase, and send clothes to Venezuela. Hundreds of women accepted Christ as Savior as a result of her efforts.
We saw one another once a year at South Hope Community Church. She would quietly walk up to me and put money in my hand and say, “My sons and husband give me money to help. I am giving it to you to use for the medical needs of the missionary woman in Burma (Myanmar).” Those funds made it possible for mothers to take their children to the hospital and get medical care.
Faye was the first to donate to that medical fund and it was and still is a source of great help to expectant and new mothers, (others have joined-in to give). Her generosity made it possible for missionary women to have the prenatal and postnatal care they needed. Each time we traveled to Burma Faye sent baby clothes there.
Faye had entered a blueberry pie into a contest being held in Bangor. As God would have it we had stopped in for that Symposium as it was ending. Over the loudspeaker came this announcement: “First Prize for the pie contest goes to Faye Harvey.” What a surprise! I rushed over to meet her just as she was stepping off the stage. We hugged each other. One day I will hug her again, but it will be in a land called Heaven. I have no doubt that many rewards have been given to her by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
