Obituary of Terrance Shayne Furlong

Terrance “Terry” Shayne Furlong, native of Schenectady, New York and longtime resident of Belfast, Maine, died peacefully in his sleep on 7 June 2021. Terry was a proud United States Air Force Veteran and Black Belt in karate. While a member of the U.S. Air Force, Terry served in Vietnam from 1969-70. After serving in the military, he was employed as a Nuclear Research Machine Repairman at General Electric in Schenectady for 35 years. Terry was able to blissfully enjoy several years of retirement in Belfast, Maine with his beloved longtime partner, Kathleen June Tobin Crane. Terry was a proud Irishman who loved Shakespeare, Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, horse racing, American History, good craic, and an occasional good pint of Guinness. Terry was pre-deceased by his parents, Edward C. Furlong and Doris Furlong (nee Shayne), his aforementioned loving partner, Kathleen June Tobin Crane, and a sister, Maureen Furlong. He is survived by stepson Seán Patrick Crane of Enfield, Connecticut; stepdaughter Colleen Mary MacKenzie and her husband Robert MacKenzie of Gorham, Maine; and stepson Kevin Edward Crane and his partner, Lisa Sprague, of Enfield, Connecticut; dear Belfast neighbors and friends, Ed and Wanda Moody; and many other beloved family members and friends in the greater Belfast and Schenectady areas. Following a brief Catholic service, Terry’s internment will occur at Smart Cemetery, in Belfast, Maine at 2:00 PM on Friday, 18 June 2021. "Ar dheis go raibh a anam." "May his soul be at the right hand of God."
