Obituary of Charles Frederick Parnell

CHARLES F. PARNELL, 88, passed away April 18, 2021 at his residence in Liberty. He was born in Manchester, New Hampshire on December 18, 1932 to Thomas and Marion (Swan) Parnell. Charles was a Navy veteran who worked as a radioman in several ports including Alaska. After the Navy, he worked for the State Department taking him to Israel, Turkey, Greece and other countries in the region. Upon returning home, he worked for the Federal Communications Commission, primarily at the Belfast facility until his retirement. An avid hunter, outdoorsman and conservationist, Charles was a man of great conviction who not only studied history, he lived it. He used his knowledge to teach others. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Marion Parnell and his sisters, Georgia Leigh and Rev. Carol Ludden. Charles is survived by a nephew, Mark Leigh of Winthrop, a niece Kathryn Reibe of Rathdrum, Idaho; grand-nieces Jennifer Moore, Heather Balleigh, Zoe Aman; grand-nephews John Leigh, Ethan Taylor, Daniel Taylor; great grand-nieces Hailey Taylor and Kinsey Taylor; great grand-nephews Owen Balleigh, Colin Taylor, Haden Sandford and finally Ryder Aman. Charles will also be remembered by the community that saw him as a father figure, mentor and friend.
