Obituary of William Joseph Vachon

MORRILL William (Bill) Joseph Vachon, 81, died April 11th, peacefully at his home in Morrill, ME, surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born August 1, 1939, in Brewer, ME, the son of Arthur and Frances (Boyce) Vachon. He graduated from Brewer High School in 1957 and attended Husson College for one year before entering the Army from September 1958 to 1960. After discharge from the Army, he worked several jobs before starting his career in sales at RD Faulkner Inc. of Brewer. In 1980, he moved his family to Lancaster, NH, to work for Hampton Equipment and continued his sales work at Stihl Inc. of Virginia Beach, VA until his retirement. He loved “the road,” his dealers, his coworkers, and the Stihl product line and he was recognized over the years for his outstanding sales performance and years of dedicated service. In 1961, Bill met the love of his life Becky, they married in 1965, and celebrated 55 years together in June, 2020. In 2005 he retired and together they traveled the states, went on several cruises, and spent many years in St. Simonds Island, GA and Myrtle Beach, SC, during the winter months. He enjoyed camping with his family, spending time with family and friends, and was a regular on Woodsman’s Day at Fryeburg Fair cutting chain for years. Retirement kept Bill busy with woodworking and neighborhood projects. He was a member of the St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church of Belfast, ME. He served as tax collector and on the planning board of the town of Morrill for several years. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Frances Vachon, two brother’s Donald and Raymond, brother-in-law’s David Blood, Robert Sampson, and Robert Carrigan, and sister-in-law, Penny Vachon. Bill is survived by his wife of 55 years Rebecca Blood Vachon, two beloved children Joseph William Vachon (Pamela) of Dover, NH, and Julie Rebecca Vachon Trimmer (Jonathan) of Standish, ME. Seven grandchildren, Sarah, Kevin, Rachel, Lucas, Jacob, Jack, and Megan. Two great grandchildren, Jaxson and MacKenzie. Also surviving is one brother, Robert Vachon (Nancy) and one sister, Marie Carrigan of Orrington, ME. Two sister-in-laws Nancy Sampson and Irene Blood. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and several dear friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday April 23, 2021 with a 10am Mass of Christian Burial at the St. Francis of Assisi Church, 81 Court St., Belfast Maine followed by burial in the Morrill Village Cemetery.
