Obituary of Stephen E. Gilman II

Stephen E. Gilman II passed away at his home with his family on Monday March 15th after a battle with prostate cancer. He was born on August 28th, 1973 in Waterville to Stephen Gilman I and Patricia (Bernard) Gilman and was the third oldest of five children. Stephen attended Waterville schools, participating in many activities including football, hockey, track and drama. He graduated in June of 1992 and then Stephen enlisted in the Navy, proudly serving as a Petty Officer aboard the USS Nassau for four years and followed his service with two years in the National Guard. He was very proud of his service in the military and was involved in the VFW spending much of his time helping many Veterans in need. Stephen was an avid outdoorsman and loved camping, fishing and hunting with his family and friends. The week before Memorial Day you would faithfully find them camping in Kokadjo and the Moosehead Lake area to celebrate the start of another summer. Stephen loved playing pool, he and his wife were both part of the APA. One year he was able to accompany his wife on a trip she won to Las Vegas for the tournament and always said he was going to win a trip, too. He loved to ride his Harley, he attended Bike Week in Laconia many times and even visited Orange County Choppers. Stephen was a fan of Nascar and supported Clint Boyer. He also loved hockey, and was a huge fan of the Boston Bruins, even getting to meet legend Terry O’Reilly one day when Stephen helped change a tire on his travel trailer. Stephen was predeceased by his mother Patricia in 1998, grandmother in law Joyce Sweetland in 2017 and his faithful dog Nickles in 2018. Stephen is survived by the light and love of his life Marie Gilman of Appleton, children Alexander “Jake”, Casey (partner Shelby), and Jasmine; his father Stephen of Waterville and his wife Deborah Colangelo, his older sister Jennifer Miller of Kentucky, her husband Troy and children Ashley and Christyn; his older brother Darrin Gilman I of Norridgewock, his wife Bobbi and children Faith, Angela and Darrin II; his younger brother Terri Gilman I of Whitefield, his wife Sarah and children Terri II, Christopher, Peyton (Stephens god daughter), James and Kathryn; his youngest brother Patrick Gilman of Waterville, his wife Addie and son Ryan; his mother in law Elizabeth Carter of Richmond and her partner Paul Winchenbach; brother in law Chico Carter of Colorado, his wife Cortney and sons Tyler and Connor; Philip Sweetland, Elmer Sweetland Sr, Elmer Sweetland Jr, Ricki Sweetland, Ben Sweetland, and countless other family and friends.
