Lloyd Wentworth

Obituary of Lloyd H. Wentworth

Lloyd Hervey Wentworth passed peacefully on March 1, 2021 at the age of 91. Lloyd was born and brought up on a farm in Knox, Maine.  He often shared cherished memories of his farm upbringing with his family.   Lloyd was predeceased by his parents, Lloyd and Zenaide (Grant) Wentworth, sister Charlotte and brothers Malcolm and James.  His brother Basil Wentworth and wife Leah and other family members still reside in Knox. After leaving the farm, a boyhood dream came true.  He proudly attended and graduated from Maine Maritime Academy as an engineer.  He shared this experience with his lifelong friend, Allan Brown. He continued his affiliation with MMA through the Maritime Reserves. Being faithful to and proud of his Alma Mater, Lloyd returned in the summers to enjoy MMA Homecoming, especially the football games. Lloyd started his electrical business in Searsport. He was married to his wife June, and their children are son David and wife Priscilla, grandchildren Brooke Sisk and Libby Dimond, daughter Deborah and husband Blaine Horne, grandchildren Jeremy Horne and Nealley Horne, and son Douglas and wife Candy (we will be forever grateful for her care and love for Dad during his illness), grandchildren Alex, Taylor and Brendan Wentworth. Lloyd’s electrical business continued to grow. He moved his business to Belfast and opened Wentworth Hardware Store on Waldo Avenue now known as the Wentworth Professional Building. His businesses grew to include WenBelle Apartment Complex and The Wentworth Event Center.  He was married to Mary Brown, children are, daughter Kristine Wentworth, grandchildren Aiden and Emmy Colson and daughter Kaya Wentworth.  Lloyd’s family also continued to grow.  He was “Grandad” to nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Lloyd became very involved and invested in Belfast.  He was very proud of the direction the city was moving. He spent many years committed to the growth of the city as part of the Chamber. Lloyd worked with pleasure every day of his life.  He maintained strong physical and mental health for his 91 years.  If anyone asked Lloyd, “How are you today?” his answer was always the same…. “Fantastic!” Lloyd’s prayer for himself and his family is to work hard and strive for peace and serenity. A private family and friends “Going Away Party” for Lloyd will be held in July. Donations would gladly be accepted by Green Streets!  Lloyd loved walking on The Rail Trail with his beloved dog Zoey. He mentioned on numerous occasions there was a spot on The Trail exposing the road where he would like to plant trees.  In support of the beautification of The Rail Trail by planting these trees in Memory of LLoyd H. Wentworth donations may be sent to Green Streets!   c/o Mike Hurley   171 High Street   Suite 2   Belfast, Maine   04915. Thank You from the Family of Lloyd H.
