Obituary of Martha Jane Dorman
Martha Jane Dorman, 72, of Belfast, Maine, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2021, in Camden, Maine, due to complications from a life long illness.
Jane was born in Eufaula, Alabama on June 22, 1948. She has alternated residences between Lakeland, Florida and Belfast, Maine for most of her adult life, before returning home to Maine for the last time in 2012.
Jane was a devoted mother to her four children and a loving friend to all who knew her. She was a kind and generous woman with a non-judgmental place at her table for anyone who needed it. She was a remarkable woman with a truly compassionate heart who will be missed dearly by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Jane is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Dovie Whitehead, her son David J. Hall, her beloved husband Bobby Dorman, her brothers Bobby Whitehead and Frank Whitehead, sister Carolyn Maxwell, her nephew Mark Cason, nieces Julie Herrick and Toya Taylor.
She is survived by her son Gerald W. Hall Jr. (Jerry) and his wife Lisa of Montville, ME; daughters Donna J. Jamison of Standish, ME and Tracy L. Hall of Lakeland, FL; sister Linda Cason of Lakeland, FL; grandchildren Scott Hall, Amanda Yerby and her husband Conor, Aaron Jamison, Katelyn Jamison, Moniqua D’Amboise, Heather D’Amboise; 11 great-grandchildren Xavier, Grace, Christin, Harley, Austin, Derek, Sophia, Ivan, Bobby, Killian and Wyatt; and her first husband and friend Gerald W. Hall Sr of Bath, ME; as well as nieces Sheri Lynn Monroe and family, Tina Raulerson, Dorothy Herrick, Mary Mercandino, Jill Futch and Brooke Davis Ward; nephews Kevin Alderman, Frank Whitehead, Donald Whitehead, Aaron Whitehead, Allen (Stormy) Whitehead, Christopher Whitehead and the many great-nieces and great-nephews she adored.
She leaves behind a lifetime of treasured friends who meant the world to her. She held you all in her heart affectionately to the end. A very special thank you to Edna Pendleton and Rose Marie Jackson: A very special place was held in her heart for you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being the loving beacon of hope that guided her through so many storms. You were her most treasured of friends and you were loved beyond words.
