Dear Connie, Linda, Larry,
Some of my most vivid childhood memories are of family and friends gathering on Salmond St, either at Uncle Albert’s or across the street at your place. Among those fond memories Harold’s grin is a constant. He was always kind and friendly to me.
I have belatedly learned of his passing, and will spend some moments appreciating his life, and the friend he once was to my father.
Wishing you all the best, Marian Rose Butler

Larry, Connie and family. Please accept Brenda and my sincere sympathy for your loss. I have so many fond memories of Harold over many years. When I first moved to Belfast, it was always Harold at Cottle’s with that positive smile & can do attitude. Harold was always so accommodating. I remember once I asked him why they didn’t carry a certain kind of pickles and the next time I went in, they were on the shelf. The thing I remember most about Harold, over many years, including the last several years , was his unrelenting positive attitude. Harold really had a wonderfully positive attitude and it was always a warm moment when I had a chance to speak with him and joke about a remembrance of a past Belfast event. I’ll remember him with very positive regard and I am sure that many others in the community share those same memories. Mike & Brenda Towey

I have many fond memories of Harold and his lovely wife, Connie. On my many visits to their home as a shy teenager, with their nephew, Freddie, I was always greeted with Connie's friendly smile and a plate of cookies. They both always went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and at home.
They were both avid supporters of high school sports, which was always a topic of common intertest.
I don't believe I ever saw either one of them without a smile on their face or a cheerful greeting, whether it was in their home, at the meat counter where Harold worked for one of the local grocery chains, or at a high school sporting event.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Connie and Larry, and their extended family, for the loss of a devoted husband, a loving father, and a true gentleman.

Connie, Larry and family, my deepest sympathy. Harold was a friendly and familiar face to so many of us kids growing up. I’ve often shared the following memory about him, when he managed the A&P Grocery. My Dad worked away and some Friday’s, it would be after 8:00 PM before he got home. Harold stayed open knowing “Roland would be pulling in”. That was so important to our family as Harold would also cash Dad’s paycheck. (No 24 hour tellers back then.) Harold was always kind and caring. He will be missed and remembered fondly. God’s Peace be with you all. Fran Riley
