Such a heartbreaking loss. I was extremely fortunate to know Scott both as a fellow basketball official and then later as a teaching colleague at Central High School. His enthusiasm and unabated friendliness will never be forgotten. Rest in peace my friend.

My heartfelt condolences go out to Scott's children, his sister Kathy and family members. I was shocked and saddened to hear of Scott's passing last Sunday. He always achieved a high standard of excellence in all his endeavors. We grew up in a tight knit community where everyone knew their neighbors and looked out for one another. Scott truly was a great example of what an outstanding citizen should be like, as all the condolence messages attest. The last time I saw and spoke with him was at our 40th H.S. reunion. RIP Scottie you left us way too soon! I know you'll continue to shine in Heaven! Sincerely, Ken Walters of Wilton, ME.

When I first became a member of IAABO Board 20, Scott was the President. The exam that year was extremely difficult. Many veterans did not pass it and the executive committee members were not pleased with the lack of preparation. However, I did not do as well on the floor test, failing it the first time I tried. I had a second chance and made the most of it. Later, I was socializing with Scott at a PRISM conference at The Samoset. He told me that he was at one of the practice sessions at the Augusta YMCA and upon observing me, made the comment to another executive committee member: "If this guy can't pass the floor test then who the heck can?" He was always supportive and while I never came remotely close to being as good an official as Scott, his kind words helped me become the best that I could be: mediocre and occasionally good. I also had the chance to spend time with Scott at a math conference in Providence (we drove home together with a few other math nerds like ourselves) and a fabulous one in San Diego. When I saw his name on the obituary page today, I was hoping it wasn't the Scott Dyke I really respected. I will never forgot the way he treated me. Rest in Peace Scott.

Board #111 would like to offer our thoughts and prayers to Scott's children and family members. Scott was a dedicated member of Board #111 for many years and he was a true friend to all his fellow officials. He will be truly missed at meetings and on the basketball court.

So sorry for scotties passing..we were great friends..starting with lake penniquam..at the campsite we shared a space between two lots..
Eventually moved to the trailer park in searsport..where he rented a trailer and I took my ancient airstream..in another lot.
I called my airstream an advanced refrigerator..metal..insulation..metal..we joked about it when he visited..with frost on the inside walls..
He was very kind to let me stay with him when my life was in turmoil..
I'll miss scottie ...we shared lots of family stuff..
I used to house sit chloe and larry when scott went to fairhaven..my most heartfelt sorry to his family...rick cowles

Scott and I met through basketball officiating and established a wonderful friendship through the years. We worked many games together and always seemed to know where each other was on the court without actually looking at them. We played golf together and met socially and definitely had a lot of laughs. It was much appreciated that he reached out to me by phone shortly before his death. I will treasure his friendship forever.

I am so very sorry for the loss of your dear Scott. I taught with Scott at Belfast Area High School these last few years but my best connection with him was that we were both Mt. Blue Cougars and proud of it. God bless you all.
