Obituary of Ronald Spencer Turner

Please share a memory of Ronald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ronald Spencer Turner, 94, of Burkettville, Maine is now dancing in the sky (Dad loved to dance). He passed away August 8, 2020 in Augusta, Maine. Born December 8, 1925 to Leroy and Flora Turner, Ronald was one of eight children. Ronald loved teaching his children, grandchildren and their children to hunt and fish, play cribbage and chess, checkers and other card games. Ronald was always quick with a joke or a whopper of a story. He enjoyed wildlife and flowers, especially his roses. Ronald was proud to be a veteran, having served his country honorably in Germany during WWII where he learned to speak German from the children there. After his military service, Ronald worked as a truck driver, woodsman, plumber, and even raised chickens; he was a true Jack-of-all-trades. Ronald loved spending time with his family and long-time friends; all the ladies and the dances would call him Candy Man because of the sweet treats he always brought to them. In addition to his parents, Ronald was predeceased by Edwina and Jossie, the mothers to his four children. Ronald is survived by two sisters, Ruth Worcester and Janet Blood. Ronald was blessed with four children, Marie Edgecomb, Linda Gibson, Spencer Turner and wife Vickie, Jill Pease and husband Daniel, and a step-son, Bruce Jameson and wife Sharon. Ronald was further blessed with as many as 20 grandchildren (we’re rounding up because we don’t want anyone to be left out) and many great- and great-great grandchildren. A special thanks to long-time friend Earlon Light, who was always there for him. At the request of the family, services are private.
