I will remember Nick’s kind and gentle presence. Even as a fourteen-year-old student, he was a person of character, who quietly preserved. He touched many of us and his loss will be felt deeply.

What a wonderful tribute to your life Nick. I so enjoyed your time working at Weymouth with me. I saw how much the children loved you. When you were not able to be with us after this started, the children were always asking where you were. When you were able to visit, you could see the love and the joy on their faces when they saw you. You were a very important member of our family and we all felt the loss. Be at peace my friend.

If I could hold a shred of strength that this man has shown in the past 15months, then I would be a much better person. You have touched my life in more ways than I can put in words. I will carry in my mind's eye the image of your sly smile forevermore. Rest easy, Nick. Much love to Alisha, Inara, Linda, Greg and Brandon.

I will always remember Nick for being the consummate teammate. We played basketball together in high school, and he was a kind and positive presence on the court and off the court. Whether he played significant minutes in a game or not, he competed hard and helped make us better....I'll miss you Nick. Our whole Windjammer community will miss you. Jon

Nick was a man of character and vision, authentic in his athleticism and intellectual pursuits.
He leaves behind that rare trait: integrity.

Growing up on the opposite end of Youngtown Road, I have many, many fond memories of Nick, as our friendship sustained through the years of sledding, Cub Scouts, school projects, wrestling matches, and more. I feel fortunate to have been able to see him again last October, and remain humbled by his kindness, authenticity, and good humor. The world is a better place because he was in it, and he left us much too early. My heartfelt condolences to Greg, Linda, and Brandon.

Greg my deepest sympathy on the lost of your son it has to be the greatest hurt in your heart you will feel. I have never had the pleasure of meeting your son but reading the tribute to him he lived life to fullest and took lots of opportunities to enjoy his short life. As someone else said, he did the things we sit back and say we would like to do but he seized the moments and went for it lived his life but taken way to early. Take care Greg.

Before I ever met Nick in person we had gotten to know each other on line and on the phone. Since he was raising my granddaughter this was important to me. I had already learned to respect him and his values so when I met him in person it only added to my liking of him even more. They made a trip out west to visit for a week and it was apparent to all family and friends here how important and valuable a person he was to both Inara and Alisha thus to all of us also. Until a few weeks ago we had frequent evening chats on I.M. keeping us up to date with each other. I will miss my son-in-law very much.

If human beings could be cloned, Nick Learnard would be the mold. I have known Nick his entire life. My grandfather, as a neighbor on Youngtown Road, helped dig their family's home foundation. The connection continued throughout our lives. I became his, and his brother's, babysitter at a young age. I remember playing with them, watching DuckTales and making them lunch during the week. They were a spirited bunch, as brothers can be. I had the awesome opportunity to reconnect with Nick when his daughter was a student at CASS. Seeing him in the hallways, always a smile on his face was a welcome sight. And being able to participate with him and Anara in the Special Olympics was a definite honor. I send love, community and special wishes to Nick's family and friends. He will be missed. His light will continue to shine on so many.
