Obituary of Beverley G. Maddocks
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our Mom, Beverley Maddocks, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Beverley passed away at home and surrounded by loved ones on March 8, 2020. She was born in Northport on February 14th, 1937, to Earl and Vivian (Small) Griffin.
Beverley lived most of her life in Northport where she raised her four daughters. After her daughters were adults, Bev pursued a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant until her retirement. After retiring, she volunteered at the Northport Food Pantry until failing health caused her to retire from volunteer work as well.
Bev enjoyed crossword puzzles, knitting hats, mittens and socks for family, and was an avid bird watcher. She and her partner of 29 years, Edward Beckett, Sr. enjoyed time at their camp in Northern Maine, spending many hours driving the dirt roads searching for wildlife.
In addition to her parents, Beverley was predeceased by two sisters, Barbara Thibodeau and Betty Erickson.
Bev is survived by her daughters, Anita Getchell and husband Mike of Albion, Joan Maddocks of Northport, Patricia “Pat” Sawyer and husband Eben of Stockton Springs, and Pamela “Happy” Abbott and husband Rodney of Searsmont; her life partner, Edward Beckett, Sr.; grandsons, Jami Pendergast, Rex Harriman, Scott Sawyer, and Jeremy Sawyer and his wife Krista; great-grandchildren, Sara and Micha Pendergast, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation in Bev’s name to the Northport Food Pantry 490 Atlantic Hwy, Northport, ME 04849.
