How to express this abject heartbreak over someone I haven’t seen in years? Sarah, you were one of the brightest stars of this past 100 years.
I know that you and Smitty made sure that the newly forming Camper’s Week had *all* campers singing, *all* the time. Brilliant! It made us a tribe. And that tribe changed my life.
You were my first, and absolutely best teacher of contra calling; I was never off the beat.
You kept choosing that kickass attitude.

I taught with Sarah at Glen Urquhart School. She was a joyful presence. Many years later she and Bill played and sang for my mother's Memorial Service. One of our colleagues correctly said , "It was a gift to know her." My deepest sympathy to Bill and her family.

I met Sara when we both worked in the field of independent living. Lots of good conversations sharing our work experiences as well as our personal ones of being blind, and a memorable weekend in Belfast with Sara and another IL blind friend. she was truly one of a kind.

Sarah's smile lit up a room and her caring warmed my heart many times. Always a teacher at heart, she taught so many of us to take challenges as they came, rise to them and make life better for all. She was a role model. And she challenged stereotypes when she called a dance, figuring out which squares were struggling faster than many sighted callers and sharing her joy and energy. There is another star up in the sky to look for, it will be twinkling at us, and her passing leaves a huge hole in our hearts and the world. Good bye Sarah, and Thank you!

Sarah was an inspiration to all, and I had the honor of knowing her through my brother's marriage to her late sister Clare. Some of my favorite memories are of the many xmases we spent with all the Gregorys and all the Kastners (my family). It was a special treat to hear her and Smitty sing folk songs at family occasions. To say she was a special person is an understatement. My love to you Smitty and the rest of the family

Sarah will always be etched in my mind as 150% alive. She taught my children music and dance at The Phoenix School and brought joy to all the kids in her lessons. She and Bill were the first couple we met when we became a couple ourselves as we were walking on Lafayette Street on our way to a concert at SSC. I cannot count many more people I have met in my life who exhibited her energy, her empathy for others, and her love of a challenge. If the Kinhaven Music School as referenced in Sarah's Obituary had any role to play in creating the Sarah I knew, it is worthy of any donation we can muster.

We met Sarah at Campers' Week in Pinewoods many years ago and have treasured our too few connections since then. I'm glad we got to see her a couple of years ago in Belfast when we were coming back from Arcadia Nat. Park.

Smitty: We hope we can make the Boston gathering. NEFFA is Friday evening April 24 to Sunday April 26 at the Boxborough-Acton High School. So there will be a lot of people who know Sarah in town that weekend.

We remember Sarah so fondly and dearly. We went to the First Universalist Church in Salem years ago which Sarah and Bill also attended. Their smiles and joy in music are so memorable. Karen served on the church Board while Sarah was the terrific Board Chair. We remember Sarah and Bill directing our chorus of rag tag U. U.s of all ages in the Yuletide Festival, encouraging everyone to sing and, if you didn’t think you could sing, sing louder!
