Rita D. Flint, 92, of Belfast, Maine passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving daughters on January 10, 2020. Rita was born in Island Falls, Maine to Dennis and Lucy Michaud, the eighth of nine children. Rita graduated Island Falls High School and moved to Belfast where she met her future husband, Oscar Flint. They enjoyed 51 years of marriage. Rita worked at Belfast Area High School for many years making homemade food and yeast rolls in the kitchen. She was an excellent seamstress, making all the clothes for the family - even Oscar's suits. She was an excellent pie baker and enjoyed bowling, skiing and shopping with her sisters. In addition to her parents, Rita was predeceased by her grandson Nicholas Wheaton. Rita is survived by her daughters, Deborah Wheaton of Naples, Maine and Carol Gay of Newcastle, Maine, grandchildren, Emily Wheaton and her husband Alex Doucette of Naples, Maine, Daniel Gay of Monmouth, Maine, Peter Gay and his wife Megan of Rumford, Maine. She also is survived by great grandchildren, Tyson Wheaton and Diamond Doucette of Naples. A Memorial Mass will be held at 2pm on Monday, January 20th, 2020, at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Belfast, Maine. Burial will be at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta, Maine at a later date.
