Eli Whitcomb Obituary
ELI MILTON WHITCOMB, 89, died November 1st at Togus V.A. Center. He was born in Waldo October 7, 1919, the son of Ralph and Lillian (Wilson) Whitcomb. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in WWII and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. In his early years, he enjoyed baseball, swimming and raking blueberries. He continued raking blueberries up until his 80th birthday. He still enjoyed shooting a game of pool.
Eli was predeceased by his son, Eli C. Whitcomb in 1976. He is survived by three sons and a daughter, Daniel Whitcomb and his wife Linda of Belmont, Randy Whitcomb and his wife Darlene of Belmont, Gloria Howard and husband Kevin of Bayside and Bobby Whitcomb of Swanville; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; five sisters, Ida Dyer of Belfast, Ella Bowden of Winterport, Hazel Gallant of Belfast, Gertrude Whitcomb of Waldo, Eleanor Stratton of Connecticut, and two brothers, Richard Whitcomb of Augusta, William "Francis" Whitcomb of Waldo.
A celebration of his life will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 6th at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue. Interment will follow at Paul Yard in Waldo.
