Ella Rumney Dean, age 80, of Northport, died March 27, 2009 at Harbor Hill in Belfast with family by her side. Ella was born May 2, 1928 in Belfast, the daughter of Ernest J. and Elmira (Knowlton) Rumney, Sr. She worked in clothing manufacturing and as a bookkeeper/receptionist in the Belfast area. In later years, she organized the Serve program in the Belfast area and belonged to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, serving as District President twice for 4 years and as Treasurer from 1996 to the present. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth R. Dean; three brothers, Ernest Jr., Ralph and Elmer Rumney. She is survived by her son, James E. Dean and his wife, Sharon Boody-Dean of Lincolnville and two grandchildren, Amanda Lynn Dean and Jason Michal Dean. Ella loved sewing, crafts, working and being with her friends at Serve, FVW and Ladies Auxiliary. She was loved by all her family and friends and will also be missed by her kitty, Angel, and her grand-puppies Boomer and Bailey. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 4, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Crabiel – Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue in Belfast.
