RAY H. THYNG, 87 of Wells, passed away September 15, 2009 in Kennebunk. He was born December 10, 1920 in Newfield, Maine, son of Eleazer and Bulah (Stetson) Thyng. He was a member of Day Spring Lodge #107; Day Spring Chapter #175; Order of Eastern Star, West Newfield, Fern Chapter #139 in Alfred. He was a very active member of the Wells-Ogunquit Lions Club and a recipient of the Lyons International Foundation Melvin Jones Fellow Award. He was a life member of the Newfield Historical Society. He is survived by his daughters, Paula Callaway and her husband John of Georgetown, TX and Jean Bailey and her husband James of Huron, TN; grandchildren, Mark Freatman of Texas, Lauralee Smith of Tennessee, James Bailey of Georgia; great-grandchildren Madison and Avery Freatman of Texas, Brandi and Summer Smith of Tennessee, James E., Abigale, Kimberly Bailey, Arron Lomax, all of Tennessee; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Carolyn W. (Jordan) Thyng and his son, Michael Ray. His family would like to extend special appreciation to the loving and caring staff at Huntington Common in Kennebunk where he resided as well as to Beacon Hospice for their devoted attention and care.
