LAURENCE “STUBBY” E. COLE, SR., 66, died September 27, 2009 at Waterville. He was born in Thorndike May 6, 1943, son of Marshall and Gertrude (Hustus) Cole. He drove trailer truck for many years and owned trucks with his brother, George. Stubby cut wood for many years with his sons, Stubby Cole & Sons Pulpwood. He loved to truck pull. He enjoyed deer hunting, loved his scratch tickets and was a doting grandfather. He was predeceased by his parents; siblings, George Cole, Marshall “Mickey” Cole, Marilyn Paquet and Richard Cole. Stubby is survived by his wife of 43 years, Louise Cole of Thorndike; his children, Laurence E. Cole Jr. of Thorndike, Marshall “Mickey” F. Cole III and wife Irene of Thorndike, Preston D. Cole and wife Kim of Thorndike; his siblings, Lewis M. Cole of Unity, Janette M. Hayes of Benton, Nelson L. Cole and wife Marjorie of Thorndike, Stephen M. Cole and wife Brenda of Thorndike, Brenda Jo Letourneau and husband Petty of Troutman, NC; grandchildren, Jessica Cole, Travis Cole, Corey Cole, Christopher Cole, Sierra Cole, Michael Cole, Samantha Cole; his Aunt Doris Scammon of Connecticut; many nieces and nephews, special cousin and best friend, Larry Hustus of Thorndike. Family and friends are invited to call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 30th at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Faith Temple Church of God, Lincolnville Avenue, Belfast with Pastor Liz Sullivan officiating. Interment will be at Center Cemetery in East Thorndike.
