Obituary of MaryLou Sweeney

MaryLou (Carney) Sweeney, 64, of Belmont died October 5th peacefully at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born August 14, 1945 in Lowell, MA., the daughter of James and Winifred (Roach) Carney. She was a very active member of the Searsport Full Gospel Church, and she was also a longtime Hospice Volunteer, serving on the board of directors of Hospice Volunteers of Waldo County and helping establish their first bereavement program. MaryLou was a natural-born caregiver and helped innumerable families throughout the community in the more than thirty-five years she lived here. For many years she worked at Waldo County General Hospital, supporting both nurses and patients. She was a University of Maine at Augusta graduate and was currently working on her RN Degree. Until recently she worked locally in the office of Dr. Deborah Peabody at Lincolnville Regional Health Center. Mary Lou was predeceased by her husband Jim and her son Edward Allen. She is survived by 4 children: James Jr. of North Berwick; Kelly and her husband Aaron Cross of New Hampshire; Colleen and her husband Roger LaFlamme of Biddeford; and Bridgit and her husband Gerard Watson of Belmont; and a sister Teresa Mikol of Massachusetts; 7 grandchildren: James III; Jasmine; Cassandra; Christopher; Kayla; Keagan; and Tyler; 3 great-grandchildren: Mia; Mersadies; and Nataliah; and special friends: Emogene; Dale; Linda; Debbie; and Jane. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, October 10th at the Searsport Full Gospel Church on Route One in Searsport, at 11:00 a.m. Friends who wish may make donations in Mary Lou’s memory to Hospice Volunteers of Waldo County or Searsport Full Gospel Church Youth Group. Arrangements are under the care of Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast.
